India Tour of Australia in the 1947-48 season was their inaugural tour to Australia after being recognized as the 6th test nation in 1932. The tour was also India's first tour as an independent nation, the tour starting 2 months after Indian Independence from Great Britan.
The tour consisted of 9 first class matches and 5 Test matches. India played against Western Australia (2 games - tour opener and last game of the tour), South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Australia XI, Queensland, Tasmania (2 matches). India won two First-class matches, lost three and drew four matches.
